Precision Commissioned to Create a “Work of Art” for Saint Louis Railway Museum
Precision Environmental was called upon in January 2016 to participate in the restoration of Locomotive #6944 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Specifically, Precision helped to safely and effectively remove lead paint from the engine and then helped to perform an intricate sand-blasting of the entire unit…..inch by inch. The Locomotive, located at the Norfolk Southern Juniata yard, became fully contained in an environmentally friendly encapsulation area and then work began. A specialized blasting machine equipped with remote control was utilized to maximize precision and safety. The Norfolk Southern Corporation commissioned the restoration of Locomotive #6944 so that it can return on a hitch back to the historic Saint Louis Railway Museum for the greater community to enjoy. Precision thanks Norfolk Southern for the opportunity to perform its services on this restoration project.
