Precision Environmental was called upon in January 2016 to participate in the restoration of Locomotive #6944 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Specifically, Precision helped to safely and effectively remove lead paint from the engine and then helped to perform an intricate sand-blasting of the entire unit…..inch by inch. The Locomotive, located at the Norfolk Southern Juniata yard, became fully contained in an environmentally friendly encapsulation area and then work began. A specialized blasting machine equipped with remote control was utilized to maximize precision and safety. The Norfolk Southern Corporation commissioned the restoration of Locomotive #6944 so that it can return on a hitch back to the historic Saint Louis Railway Museum for the greater community to enjoy. April 7, 2017
Precision is proud to be part of the Scofield Mansion Restoration project where our team is helping to infuse and inspire a future revitalization of the one-time neighborhood of the DiGeronimo Family. The Scofield Mansion, home to famed Nineteenth Century Cleveland Architect Levi Scofield, is located on a property in the Buckeye Woodhill neighborhood only two doors away from a house that was built by Sam DiGeronimo, and where five of the seven DiGeronimo children spent their early childhoods before moving to Independence. The home has been left to deteriorate for nearly two decades, but a team effort to give the mansion and property a makeover has been launched through the leadership of the Cleveland Restoration Society and the County Land Bank. Specifically, Precision has volunteered to help greatly enhance and clean up the property, with the intent to help revitalize a mansion and estate located in a neighborhood with strong ties to the heritage of their family.
